Welcome Participants,

Welcome to the 11th IAMB Winter conference of the International Academy of Management and Business that took place on November 7-9, 2011, in San Francisco, California, USA.

The conference provided a platform for professionals, practitioners, academics, educators and researchers in the various fields of management and business to disseminate and share the latest research, knowledge and experiences. The conference hosted scholars from 34 countries around the world, covering over 48 universities, academic institutions and businesses. The friendly atmosphere, the one on one opportunity for exchange and networking, and the multi-national exposure were cited among the top benefits from conference attendees. Each submitted abstract/paper is peer reviewed and only accepted abstracts/papers were presented. Selected manuscripts will be published in the official journal of IAMB, the International Journal of Management and Business, IJMB.

Best Manuscripts Competition

I would like to congratulate this year’s scholars who submitted their manuscripts for the best papers competition in four major categories. In each category there were 15-20 manuscripts that were peered reviewed by 2-3 judges. The winners were announced and were given appropriate award certificates at the conference. The winners of the Best Student Paper Award receive also a monitory award of $250 USD. In some categories the judges could not select a clear winner and have given the award to two manuscripts. The followings are the winners in each category:

Best Student Manuscript (Graduate students): Co-winner Nnaoke Ufere (USA); and co-winner Fernando Parra (USA)

Best Young Scholar Manuscript (Ph.D less than 3 years): Maria J. Mendez (USA).

Best Applied Manuscrip: Co-winners Kaouthar Lajili, Michael Dobler, and Daniel Zeghal (Canada); and co-winners: Kathleen Spector, Joseph Angiello and Rosalyn Rufer (USA).

Best Overall Manuscript: Co-winners Virginia Fernández-Pérez, Victor J. García-Morales and María Teresa Bolívar-Ramos (Spain), and co-winners: Fawad Asif Rana, Amber Jamil and Sajid Hussain Awan (Pakistan)

These manuscripts are also accepted for publication in the International Journal of Management and Business, IJMB.
